Background

During the latter part of the 1997 season, several fans joined together with the idea of starting a Booster Club. Many of us had become "ballpark friends" seeing each other almost daily at both home and away games. We reveled together during that magical Championship season and realized that we all wanted to become more involved in Lugnuts Baseball. Many of us had the opportunity to become personally acquainted with the players and coaches and felt they deserved more than simple fan support at game time. Two questions were asked: "What can we do to make their stay in Lansing easier?" and "How can we give other fans an opportunity to get involved?" After several meetings and a lot of hard work, The Booster Club was created.

The Booster Club provides our members with the opportunity to meet other baseball enthusiasts and to become involved in Lugnuts Baseball on a more personal level. Much of our effort focuses on providing a host family program where team members are offered the convenience of living within Club members’ homes. We supply welcome bags to each player upon his arrival in Lansing and host several potlucks and events each season. The Club also provides "goody bags" filled with treats for long road trips and we frequently greet the team with snacks upon their return.

Other activities include participation at special events such as the 1999 Mid-West League All-Star Game Fan Fest held at Oldsmobile Park. The Club also organizes pre-game tailgate parties and group outings to away games. To help fund these activities we hold fundraisers* such as Memorabilia Raffles and Gift Certificate sales.

The fun doesn’t stop when the season is over. An annual "Spring Training Warm-Up" Dinner is held every February to kick off the new season.  Preparation continues throughout the year as we strive to increase the Club’s participation with and enjoyment of Lugnuts Baseball.

The Booster Club developed our own logo to establish an identity separate from the Lugnuts Organization.  Although we work very closely with and have their support, we must remember that we are a private group of fans. 

The Lugnuts Organization supports our endeavors and provides assistance whenever possible.  Over the years we have enjoyed the cooperative and professional relationship offered to us by the Lugnuts staff, and have been assured that our contributions are appreciated.

Our logo can be embroidered on most apparel, hats and bags.  We also offer a t-shirt available only to Club Members which symbolizes our dedication to having fun and actively supporting our team.  More information on our apparel and logo can be obtained here.  More ->
